Esta colección de poemas usa la perspectiva de la lente fotográfica como medio de exploración de las ciudades, por lo tanto los treinta y un poemas son altamente visuales y compactos. La traducción y publicación subsiguiente fue apoyada por Dickinson College Research and Development Committee junto a Bates College Faculty Development Fund, a quienes estamos muy agradecidas.
El proyecto colaborativo de tradución fue inspirado por la participación de la poeta en la celebración anual de la poesía durante La Semana Poética en Dickinson College, octubre 2009. Llevar a cabo la traducción ha requerido un gran acto de fe. El resultado refleja una serie de decisiones, la más determinante fue mantenernos fieles a los originales. Por ende, “lo extranjero” del texto forma parte intrínseca del producto en inglés. Por otro lado, permanecimos atentas a la cadencia diferente de los dos idiomas y ante este factor sí optamos hacer concesiones durante la traducción. Mas nuestro mayor interés ha sido mantener la poeticidad extranjerizante de la traducción y no caer en una práctica explicativa del texto original.

This collection of poems uses the camera lens perspective as a means to explore cities. The result is therefore thirty-one highly visual and compact poems. The subsequent translation was funded by the Dickinson College Research and Development Committee as well as the Bates College Faculty Development Fund, to whom we are very grateful.
The collaborative translation project was sparked by the poet’s participation in the annual celebration of poetry during La Semana Poética at Dickinson College, October 2009. We would like to acknowledge the Spanish and Portuguese Department of Dickinson College for the hospitality during the poet’s attendance in La Semana Poética. In particular, the poet would like to thank Mark Aldrich for the invitation and his warm cordiality during the event; and , Elizabeth Zizzi for her thoughtfulness and coordination of the visit.
To carry out this translation project has required a great act of faith. The result reflects a series of decisions. To remain true to the original was the determining factor. Therefore, “the foreigness” of the text is an intrinsic part of the product in English. On the other hand, we remained sensitive to the cadence differences in the two languages, and in this regard we did make concessions throughout the translation. Nevertheless, our main interest has been to maintain the foreign poeticity of the translation and not practice an explanatory approach to the original text.
