Ball, David M. Chris Ware. The Literary Encyclopedia (Article published online August 4, 2011). https://www.litencyc.com/php/speople.php?rec=true&UID=12910

With the possible exception of Art Spiegelman, no other author of graphic novels has received the acclaim or recognition given to Chris Ware. Author of Jimmy Corrigan: The Smartest Kid on Earth (2000) and over 20 volumes of the serialized The ACME Novelty Library (1993-present), Ware has emerged at the forefront of a generation of comics artists who are garnering the attention of both literary scholars and the wider reading public. Appearing in literary and comics anthologies, having won every major award in the comics industry multiple times, and with two major book-length works nearing completion, Ware stands to become one of the most consequential authors of his generation of American writers, both in the medium of comics and the wider cultural field of American letters.
