Examining Bus Idling on the Dickinson Campus: Diesel Idling (Team 2 Report)

Public Deposited

Two student research teams examined bus idling on the Dickinson College campus. This project was done at the request of Dr. Les Poolman, Director of Athletics, by members of Professor Jim Hoefler’s Foundations in Policy Studies class (PMGT/LAWP 200). The two teams estimated the extent of bus drivers’ compliance with Pennsylvania Act 124 requirements while parked on the campus. They investigated what other colleges do to limit idling, and why bus drivers may fail to comply. The teams also sought advice from government, health advocacy groups, and college officials. After identifying key problems, they proposed follow up actions. This is one team's report.
