Yo Sé Perder : Pero, ay Comó de Duele

Public Deposited

I am privileged to have been raised to be in a city filled with a wealth of diverse
artwork. During the initial interview portion of my application to attend Dickinson through the Posse Foundation I spoke about how badly I wanted to be a congresswoman. I suppose this is because I had the opportunity in high school to teach a class that focused on how to write new legislation for Senate. For my final Posse interview we were asked to present one thing of which we were especially proud. Some people danced in front of interviewers or brought their sports trophies or academic awards. I brought a portfolio of my photography that I had printed at Costco with my birthday money. I remember the interviewers being impressed by my talents and they asked me why I didn’t apply to art school. I said because I wanted to be a multifaceted person with a range of knowledge in multiple subjects. Little did I know I would be graduating four years later having traveled to Rwanda, Spain and New York, and double majoring in Political Science and Studio Art.
